Behind the Scenes: Moving Maybe James and Expanding Beyond Resin
Share
For blog post number one, I wanted to share a little of the behind the scenes. I spent the last four years with Maybe James hosted on a Wix site. That probably doesn’t mean much if you’ve never run a website, but Wix is one of those “all-in-one” platforms that’s great for getting started. It served me well while I was learning the ropes, but one day I realised I needed more flexibility, better tools, and a platform that could grow with me. That’s when I made the decision to move everything ... every product, every collection... over to Shopify. Ugh.
The move wasn’t just about switching platforms. It felt like the right time to grow, not only with my website but also with my jewellery. For years, resin jewellery has been the heart of Maybe James. I’ve loved experimenting with glitter, mica powders, and colour combinations, but I never wanted to box myself into one medium. Creativity for me is about freedom, and recently I’ve been expanding into polymer clay, wood, and painted designs.
Switching to Shopify gave me a fresh canvas to show off this wider range of handmade jewellery. It’s not just about selling online; it’s about telling the story of Maybe James as it evolves. Whether I’m working with resin, clay, or wood, the heart of my brand stays the same: creating jewellery that’s colourful, fun, and designed to make you feel a little more like you.
This website shift feels like a new chapter ... one where I get to explore new mediums, share more behind-the-scenes, and connect with my customers in a more seamless way. If you’ve been following along since the resin-only days, thank you for sticking with me. And if you’re new here, welcome! There’s a lot of colour, glitter, and creativity waiting for you.
